Biography

      Chen Jianping received his B.Sc. degree in 1983 from Zhejiang University,M. Sc. degree andPh.D. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong Universityin 1986 and 1993, respectively, all in electronic engineering. He joinedShanghai JiaoTong Universitysince 1986. He served as Department Chair from 2006 to 2011 and presently is the Director of the Office of “211/985” Projects, Shanghai JiaoTong University. He is also the Secretary-Generalof Shanghai Institute of Electronics.

      Dr. Chen has publishedmore than 80 journal articlesand has 17awarded patents. He is the chief scientistof the National Basic Research Program (also known as 973 Program). Dr. Chen's activities for the IEEE Communications Society include serving as an area associate editor for IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. He acted as the General Co-Chairman for several international conferences such as ICCSC 2008.
