Bin XIA obtained his BS and MS degree from the University of Science Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, China in 1997 and 2000, respectively,
both in Communication Information Engineering. He received his Ph.D degree in Communication Engineering from Hong Kong University (HKU) in 2004.
From 1999 to 2001, he was involved in the algorithm research and system development for the first IS-95 based CDMA system in China and the first commercial WCDMA UE Emulator in the world as Research Assistant in USTC, and Department Manager in the Joint Wireless Soft. Research LAB of USTC and UTStarcom Inc.
In 2004, he was Research Fellow in Wireless Communication LAB of HKU.
From 2004 to 2005, he was with the Mobile Communication Group, Alcatel Co., Ltd., where he was serving as Senior System Engineer for the first commercial
WiMAX system in the world.
From 2005 to 2012, he was serving as Senior Research Engineer, Project Manager of Key Technology Research Development for the Long Term Evolution
(LTE) Advanced systems, and the first Project Manager of R&D for the TDD-LTE prototype, in the Wireless Research Department, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
He was the found chair of digital industry convergence working group of Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF).He is a senior member of IEEE,
and has served as a TPC member for many conferences. He has served as publicity chair of IEEE WCNC2013, general co-chair of Workshop on Internet of
Things of IEEE ICCC2014, workshop co-chair of IEEE ICC2015, and executive co-chair of IEEE ICC2019.
He received the 2019 IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Paper Award, and 2020 the first prize in Shanghai's Nature Science Award.
