Biography
Yikai Su received the Ph.D. degree in EE from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA in 2001. Subsequently he worked at Crawford Hill Laboratory of Bell Laboratories, where he conducted research on high-speed transmission at 40 – 160 Gb/s, and packet switching. He joined the Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2004, where he is a now a full professor and the director of the Optical Transmission and Integrated Photonics group. His current research topics cover silicon photonic devices, and datacenter interconnects and switching. Recently his group proposed and demonstrated silicon photonic multiplexing and switching in wavelength, polarization and mode, and studied short reach transmission for datacenter interconnects. He has over 400 publications in international journals and conferences, with more than 5000 citations (scopus search). He gave >70 invited talks at international conferences. He holds 7 US patents and ~70 Chinese patents. Prof. Su is a senior member of IEEE and a Fellow of OSA.

He serves the Photonics Society as the Shanghai chapter chair. He also served the technical community as: guest editor of IEEE JSTQE (2008/2011), topical editor of Optics Letters (2008-2014), associate editor of APL Photonics (2016- ), program co-chair of Asia-pacific communications conference (APCC) 2009 and Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP) 2011, general co-chair of ACP 2012, technical program committee member for Lasers and Electro-Optics society (LEOS) meeting 2005-2007, the Pacific-Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO PR) 2007, OptoElectronics Communications Conference (OECC) 2008, Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference 2011-2013, European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC) 2013-2017, Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) 2016-2018, and OFC 2020-2022.
