Biography
Zuyuan He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronic engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 1984 and 1987, respectively, and Ph.D. degree in optoelectronics from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan,in 1999.
He joined Nanjing University of Science and Technology,Nanjing, China as a Teaching Associate in 1987, and became a Lecturer in 1990.He engaged in the research of fiber optic sensors, the evaluation and measurement of optical devices, and optical instrumentation.From 1995 to 1996, he was a Research Fellow studying optical information processing in the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), University of Tokyo.In 1999, he became a Research Associate of the University of Tokyo, where he worked on the measurement and characterization of fiber optic components and systems, fiber optic reflectometry, fiber optic sensors, and multi-dimensional optical information processing.In 2001, he joined CIENA Corporation,Linthicum, Maryland, USA, as a Lead Engineer leading the Optical Testing and Optical Process Development Group.He returned to the University of Tokyo as a Lecturer in 2003, and became an Associate Professor in 2005 and a full Professor in 2010.He is now a Chair Professor in Department of Electronic Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.His current research interests include optical fiber sensors, specialty fiber, optical fiber measurement, and optical signal processing.
Prof. Zuyuan He co-authored more than 60 journal papers on Optics Letters, Optics Express, Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Photonics Letters, etc.He also published more than 300 conference papers including invited papers on CLEO, ECOC, CLEO-PR, FiO, OFS, etc.He has been served as technical program committee members of CLEO, OFC, CLEO-PR, OFS, and OECC.He filed 18 international patents, among which 4 are approved.
