1.  Subject Introduction

      The subject has a primary discipline doctorate authorization and post-doctoral research stations. It has ??? Doctoral supervisors and ??? Master supervisors. Among them there are two Chang Jiang Specially-appointed Professors awarded by the National Ministry of Education, one Chair Professor, one National Crackerjack Young persons, two 973 chief scientists, one innovative group of National Natural Science Foundation Division and one Innovative Team of Education Ministry Chang Jiang Scholar. The subject is based on State Key Laboratory of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, State Engineering Laboratory of TFT-LCD Key Material and Technology and other scientific research bases. It has some expensive researching and measuring instruments in circuits, microwave, optics and other fields. It also has sufficient computer equipments. The subject is based on basic theory in Circuits, Signals and Systems, Electromagnetic field and Microwave technology and other fields. It is also closely related to Information and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Technology and other subjects. The main research fields are Design of IC Dedicated Chips and VLSI Layout Confirmation, Automatic Speech Recognition Technology, Intelligent information Processing and Neural Network, Automation Test System, Nonlinearity and Network Optimization Design, Microwave Theory in Electromagnetic field and Circuits of High Speed IC, Electromagnetic Waves and Antenna Theory, Photon Communication and Optical Information Processing Instruments and Systems, Interaction between Electromagnetic field and Material ,and so on. In recent years, the scholars of the subject get many important research achievements including 2 second Prize of National Natural Science, 2 second Prize of National Technical Innovation and 2 second Prize of National Excellent Education Results. Two PhD theses are elected Hundred National Excellent PHD theses.

 

2.   Training Objectives

      Train students to get wide basic theory knowledge in information and communication. Master the development, tendency and new development frontier of the subject and other electronic relevant subjects. Have the ability to do scientific research independently and get creative research results in theory or practice. Have the ability to read the non-Chinese information skillfully. Have the ability to write articles and attend international academic exchanges. Have the ability to do the work in college education, scientific research, engineering and technology management.

 

 

3.  Educational System and Credits

     The age of direct doctoral students is 5 years, the credits must be greater than or equal to 40. Among them there are degree courses whose credits are greater than or equal to 19. Students should finish their courses in 2 years. Doctoral students should choose at least 1 or 2 public elective courses which are published by the Research Institution and not offered by First - Grade subjects.

Remarks:

1) The PhD students of cross disciplines can choose one or two undergraduate courses of this term. The credits are provided by the subject. The students can apply under tutors and the subject. Submit the application to educational administration and keep in the archives. Then report to the graduate school for reference.

2) If students attend some studying aboard activities or major international academic conferences of the subject and do some academic lectures, it can be convertible to 2 credits of academic symposium.

 

5.  Qualification Assessment

      Qualification examination of this kind of PhD students has to be finished before the forth term. The test should be as requested by the rules and programs of comprehensive assessment in 《The Training Rules of PhD students in Shanghai Jiao Tong University》.

 

6.  Thesis Proposal

      The thesis proposal of PhD students who pass the qualification examination should be finished before the first half of fifth term. The reading amount of literature should reach 50 to 100 or even more.

 

7.  Dissertation     

1) The requirement of title selection and review.

2) The requirement of regularity.

3) The requirement of research achievement innovation.

 

8.  Paper Publishing

      PhD students should meet the Publishing Requirement of Academic Paper set by the university and the institute. See the details in the relevant documents.

 

9.  Something Else

      The training plan is carried out from the 2011 PhD students.
