PhD Students Bin Wang and Yao Lu won the Paper Awards in ACP 2019

Date: 14 November 2019

Congratulations!  PhD students Mr. Bin Wang and Ms. Yao Lu from EE department won the Tingye Li Best Student Paper Award and and the Best Poster Award, respectively, from the 2019 Asia Communications and Photoics (ACP) conference. The conference was held in Chengdu during 2-5 November, 2019.

The paper by Bin Wang is entitled “Distributed Dynamic Strain Measurement with High Repetition Rate Based on Dual-slope-assisted BOCDA” It reported the latest research progress on Brillouin optical correlation domain analysis (BOCDA). The proposed DSA-BOCDA system is capable of achieving high measurement speed, high spatial resolution and high measurement accuracy, which is promising to further expand the application fields of the BOCDA system. Yao Lu’s poster, entitled “Over 230 Gb/s VCSEL-Array Injection Locked by Optical Frequency Comb”,  reported a high-capacity integrated optical interconnect technology using injection lock technique to greatly improve VCSEL modulation bandwidth. The proposed system realizes an optical transmitter over 230 Gb/s. Both research works were highly appraised by the conference award committee..

Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP) is now the largest conference in the Asia-Pacific region on optical communication, photonics and relevant technologies.

The conference is launched by three American societies (OSA, SPIE, IEEE Photonics Society) and two Chinese societies (The Chinese Optical Society, China Institution of Communication) and is held once a year (ongoing since 2001). ACP2019 was held at the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center, and attracted over 1000 attendees.
