Robust Linear Transceiver Design for Cooperative MIMO Systems

Title: Robust Linear Transceiver Design for Cooperative MIMO Systems

Abstract:

As a multi-user framework, cooperative communications utilizes the broadcast nature of radio propagation to provide higher quality of service, better communications experience and/or wider area coverage via coordinations among participants. On the other hand, it is well known that multiple-antenna systems provide substantial spatial diversity and multiplexing gains without extra bandwidth. The benefits of multiple-antenna systems can be directly introduced into cooperative communications via deployment of multiple antennas at transmitters and receivers. Such a cooperative MIMO system has received a lot of attention lately. In this talk, linear transceiver design for this system and its challenges are discussed. In particular, the design of transceiver robust against Gaussian random channel uncertainties is addressed. The optimal solution for minimum mean square error of the recovered signal at the destination is then developed. Finally, its extension to MIMO-OFDM cooperative systems over frequency selective channels is introduced.
